Hope Amidst Illness – A Cancer Survivor’s Journey
Nutritional support and emotional counselling helped Mrs. Kamala fight cancer with strength and dignity.
When Mrs. Kamala was diagnosed with breast cancer, she thought her life was over. A mother of three, she faced not only the physical toll of chemotherapy but also the financial strain of treatment. Her family’s savings were quickly depleted, and she often skipped meals to afford medicines.
AFT’s Cancer Care Program stepped in to provide nutritious meal packs, transport support for hospital visits, and weekly counselling sessions. Our volunteers also organised a small fund‑raiser among local businesses to cover her remaining treatment costs.
Kamala completed her treatment in December 2024 and is now in remission. She says, “AFT was my lifeline. They didn’t see me as a statistic – they saw a mother, a wife, and a fighter.” Today, she volunteers at our cancer awareness workshops, sharing her story to encourage other patients to never give up hope.
